I assume you read the Microgeneration Programme announcement
from a few days ago Liam? "Grant support to meet 50% of the initial
start up costs will be made available for the installation of
microgeneration systems in approximately 50 trials to be conducted
nationwide." -
By the way, I found that link on Patrick Liddy's GreenNav blog.
I've a brother who is very seriously thinking about erecting a wind
turbine too to power two households and numerous outhouses with
high electricity demands.
Have heard about it all right. Need to measure wind speeds for 1
year to profile the turbine. If your brother wants a serious system
he should a consider an aprsworld wind data logger kit and get the
wind direction accessory. Data is logged to sd card.
This allows for very accurate measurement. Would recommend
glas.ie they know what they are on about, their guys have done alot
of training with TI. The also have expertise in photovoltaic.
has a good article about tower height. Their 5kw turbine has been
recommended to me. Company in offaly are the roi agents.
Points to note in this position are 1. This "scheme" is being
mooted by the DCMNR 2. These are the self same gobshites who gave
us, the Group Broad Scheme fiasco, the Schools Broadband Scheme
fiasco, the National Broadband Scheme fiasco, as a result of the
Pellet Boiler fiasco, the Aer Lingus doing a ligger from Shannon to
Belfast fiasco. 3. These morons are incapable of ever getting
anything right, everything they turn their hand to turns into
disaster. 4. Do the nation and fire the lot of them.

Anemometer should be placed on a 10 metre steel pole. So as to wind speeds accurately.
